Buffalo Gun Club Youth Program (BGCYP)
BGCYP is a coaching-intensive program focused on fundamentals, fun, and competition, and serves as the training program for students interested in potentially joining the Buffalo High School Trapshooting Team.

New and Returning Shooters - You should have received and email from wes gentry letting you know that you can register at this time!
Thank you for your patience regarding the delayed registration dates.
Priority is given to those students living or attending schools in the BHM School District
Cost for athletes shooting 1 box = $150 (7 weeks of instruction: shells, rounds, safety equipment, T-shirt, and End of Year Party)
We will limit New Shooters to 1 box
Cost for athletes shooting 2 boxes = $233 (7 weeks of instruction: shells, rounds, safety equipment, T-shirt, and End of Year Party)
We only recommend 2 boxes for older the older kids or kids who have had prior shooting experience
in 2025:
First time athletes participating in the 2025 Buffalo Gun Club Youth Program are going to be shooting 1 box (25 shells) during their 45 minute time slot for shooting each evening. This change was necessary to accommodate as many shooters as possible with the overwhelming number of athletes who want to participate.
Returning Athletes participating in the 2025 Buffalo Gun Club Youth Program will have the option for shooting 1 or 2 boxes (25-50 shells) during their 45 minute time slot for shooting each evening.
Wes Gentry and Wade Johnson will be serving as Head Coaches for the 2025 season along with help from many returning coaches.
Buffalo Gun Club Youth Program 2025:
Dates: Tuesdays (July 8th till August 19th)
Location: Buffalo Gun Club (802 Hwy 55 E. Buffalo, MN 55313)
Time: 5:00 pm-7:30 pm
Cost: $150/participant Shooting 1 box of shells
Cost: $233/participant Shooting 2 box of shells
Age: 6th-8th students enrolled at BCMS, StFX, or Homeschooled in the BHM Area
We also accept High School Students 9th-11th who want to be able to join the High School Spring Team the following year. Shooting in the Youth Program or the High School Fall Program is a prerequisite to joining the High School Spring Team
Team: 30 shooters maximum, we will have a waiting list.

Safety Meeting: A required safety meeting will be held July 8th in person at the Wright County Historical Society. At least one parent or guardian and the athlete must attend this safety meeting to be eligible to shoot in the program.
Payment: Please do not pay the BGCYP Fee until you receive an email confirming your registration from Wes Gentry ,Wade Johnson or Sally Stevens

One season of BGCYP is required for anyone interested in joining the Buffalo High School Trapshooting Team, therefore first priority for the 30 spots available will be given to 6th grade & up students residing or attending school in Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose (BHM) school district. Any remaining spots not taken by BHM students will be filled by out-of-district registrants in chronological order of online registration received.
BGCYP is an 7-week, coaching-intensive program, Tuesdays between 5:00-7:30pm, focusing on trapshooting fundamentals.

BGCYP is for 6th grade & up students, living & attending schools in the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose school district, interested in learning how to shoot and/or eventually joining the Buffalo High School Trapshooting Team.
Our coaching team
We take coaching seriously. All BGCYP coaches are, at a minimum, NRA Level 1 Shotgun coaches, and dedicated to providing quality, consistent instruction.
